Registry for Future Belief Systems – Ralo Mayer, 2024

For his Registry for Future Belief Systems, Ralo Mayer investigates words, phrases and microstories linked to CCS as well as to the municipality of Aderklaa in Lower Austria, a potential site for future carbon storage.

The scanned copies of handwritten text sketches integrate fragments of meeting memos,(semi-)automatic writing, and a rehearsal of „myths of the near future.”

Ralo Mayer taught at the University of Applied Arts Vienna from 2014-2018, where he also completed his artistic research PhD on ‘Space Un-Settlements’ in 2022. He received the Msgr Otto Mauer Prize in 2012. His multidisciplinary works deal with forms and temporalities of social change, which he approaches, for example, through objects from space travel, ecology or the science fiction of our everyday lives.
